Registered Veterinary Nurse

The Vetcare Centres (Guernsey)

Full-time

Let's Talk Numbers First

Base Salary: £45,000+ (negotiable based on experience)
Annual Bonus: Up to 10% performance-based
Your Take-Home: With Guernsey's 20% flat income tax rate (no National Insurance), you'll actually keep what you earn

To put this in perspective: A £45,000 salary in Guernsey gives you roughly the same take-home pay as earning £63,000+ in the UK. That's an extra £12,000+ in your pocket every year.

For context, the average RVN salary in the UK is around £28,000. We're offering 60% more in base salary, and you get to keep significantly more of it.

The Opportunity

We're not looking for someone to just book appointments and monitor anaesthetics. We need an experienced RVN who wants to elevate veterinary nursing in Guernsey.

The Vetcare Centres is part of AnimalKind, and we're building something exceptional. We need you to help us implement world-class clinical protocols, develop our team culture, and create the kind of practice where nursing is genuinely valued and respected.

This is your chance to do veterinary nursing the way it should be done, with proper resources, proper autonomy, and proper compensation.

What Makes This Different

The Island Life
Guernsey isn't just about tax benefits. It's 30 square miles of stunning coastline, a 25-minute commute to anywhere, and a genuine community. No traffic. Safe beaches. Work-life balance that actually exists. You can finish a shift and be at the beach 15 minutes later.

The Compensation Package

  • Base salary from £45,000 (genuinely negotiable for the right person)
  • Annual bonus up to 10% based on practice and personal performance
  • Generous relocation stipend to make your move seamless
  • Private health insurance
  • All professional fees paid (RCVS membership, VDS, professional bodies)
  • £2,500 annual CPD allowance
  • Gym membership subsidy
  • And critically: 20% income tax with no National Insurance

The Culture
We're building a practice grounded in one non-negotiable principle: kindness. To clients, to patients, to each other. We pursue solutions more than problems. We focus on small, consistent improvements (1% better every day). We're ambitious but patient. We do the hard things because that's how they become easier.

Read our full company charter if you want to understand what we're about. It's authentic, not corporate fluff.

What We're Looking For

Experience That Matters
You're an established RVN who's confident in your clinical abilities. You've done the difficult cases. You know what good practice looks like because you've experienced the difference between practices that value nurses and those that don't. You're ready to build something better.

Ownership Mindset
This role is for someone who wants to make it their own. We'll give you the autonomy, resources, and trust to develop nursing protocols, improve patient care standards, and help grow the business. In return, we need you to care about outcomes, not just ticking boxes.

Team Builder
You understand that 1+1=3. You can work collaboratively with our vets, support staff, and help us build a team culture where everyone contributes to exceptional care. You're someone others naturally look to for guidance.

Resilient and Optimistic
Veterinary nursing is demanding. Building something exceptional is hard. We're looking for someone who embraces challenges head-on and stays optimistic about what's possible, even when it's 6pm and the emergency just walked in.

Genuinely Kind
This is so important it needs its own section. We mean it when we say kindness is non-negotiable. If you're brilliant but unkind, you're not for us. If you're kind but still developing clinically, we'll help you become brilliant.

What You'll Be Doing

Your role will combine excellent clinical nursing with genuine input into how we operate:

  • Providing high-standard nursing care across all areas of practice
  • Anaesthesia monitoring and recovery
  • Surgical support and theatre management
  • Medical nursing and patient care
  • Client communication and education
  • Developing and implementing nursing protocols and SOPs
  • Training and mentoring support staff and student nurses
  • Contributing to practice management discussions
  • Supporting out-of-hours emergency care (fair rota, properly compensated)

You'll have the freedom to develop areas you're passionate about. Want to specialise in anaesthesia? Build up dental nursing? Focus on rehabilitation? Let's make it happen.

What The Job Is & Isn’t

We've struggled to attract experienced nurses before, so let's be honest about what this is and isn't:

This IS:

  • A genuine opportunity to practice nursing at the highest level
  • Exceptional compensation that reflects your professional value
  • A place where nurses are respected as essential clinical professionals
  • A chance to live somewhere beautiful with an incredible quality of life
  • A practice that will invest in your development as much as you invest in us

This ISN'T:

  • A place where you'll just be cleaning kennels and answering phones
  • A corporate machine where you're a number
  • Going to be perfect from day one (we're still building)
  • For someone who wants a quiet life with minimal responsibility

Next Steps

If this resonates with you, let's talk.

We're more interested in a genuine conversation about whether this is right for you than a formal application process. Send us your CV along with a brief note about why Guernsey and why now.
